Marine Corps Biography of MSgt Scott G. Badgley

Master Sergeant Badgley, a native of Poughkeepsie, New York, joined the Marine Corps on 01 April 1991. Upon completion of recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina on June 28, 1991. Master Sergeant Badgley Reported to Naval Amphibious Base Coronado for Embarkation and Logistics school. Upon completion of school in August 1991, he was assigned to VMA-231, Marine Aircraft Group 32, Second Marine Aircraft Wing (2dMAW), Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina. While serving with 2d MAW, Master Sergeant Badgley deployed with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 365 (HMH-365) as part of the 22d Marine Expeditionary Unit, where he participated in the Southwest Asia cease fire. Upon return to MCAS Cherry Point he transferred to Marine Wing Communications Squadron 28 (MWCS 28) in September 1992. While serving with MWCS 28, Master Sergeant Badgley again deployed, this time with HMH-362 and participated on Operations PROVIDE PROMISE and SOUTHERN WATCH. In January 1995, Master Sergeant Badgley transferred to Marine Aircraft Group 49 (MAG-49) Detachment A aboard Andrews Air Force Base, Washington DC. He served with MAG-49 DET A as the Logistics Clerk until his assignment to Marine Barracks, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba as the Logistics Chief for the Marine Security Forces in Cuba. Following his tour with Marine Security Forces, Master Sergeant Badgley executed orders to Combat Service Support Detachment 14 (Forward) aboard MCAS Miramar, California. During his tour, Master Sergeant Badgley spent a majority of his tour deployed aboard the USS Nassau and the USS San Antonio, until his transfer to Marine Forces Command in Norfolk, Virginia in March, 2007 Following his tour in Norfolk, Master Sergeant Badgley was transferred to Marine Aircraft Group, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Willow Grove, Pennsylvania. During his tour Master Sergeant Badgley played a critical role in the decommissioning of MAG-42 and the integration of assets into the MAG-49 structure. Additionally, Master Sergeant Badgley provided valuable assistance in the planning, pack-out and deployment of HMH-772 collocated aboard NAS JRB Willow Grove. Master Sergeant Badgley's personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2nd award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2nd award), Humanitarian Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal (2nd award), Armed Forces Service Medal, NATO Medal (2nd award), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait), Southwest Asia Medal and the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal(5th award). Master Sergeant Badgley has five children, Garrett, Ryan, Matt, Kathryn, and a baby due October 1, 2009.
